Choosing the Right Cannabis Product

- Concentrates: Potent cannabis forms like kief, hash, and BHO oil. Consume with caution due to high strength.
- Edibles: Infused food items (e.g., brownies, candies). Effects take 30 minutes to 4 hours to kick in and last longer than smoking.
- Topicals: Infused lotions, oils, and balms that absorb through the skin, mainly used for pain relief.
- Tinctures & Oils: Ingestible cannabis in pill or tincture form for precise dosage.
Dosage & Administration
Dosage Tips
- Start Low & Go Slow: Begin with the smallest dose to achieve your desired effects and increase only as needed.
Methods of Consumption
- Inhalation: Provides quick effects lasting up to several hours. Wait 45 minutes before taking more.
- Oral (Edibles): Effects take longer to feel and may be stronger. Wait 2-3 hours before re-dosing.
- Topicals: Used externally and usually don’t produce a “high.”
Recognizing Signs of Dependence
Tolerance builds over time, requiring higher doses for the same effect. Dependence may involve withdrawal symptoms when stopping use. If you or someone you know needs help, reach out to the Massachusetts Substance Use Helpline at 800-327-5050 or text “HOPE” to 8800327.
